Writing is an adventure. To begin with, it is a toy and an amusement. Then it becomes a mistress, then it becomes a master, then it becomes a tyrant. The last phase is that just as you are about to be reconciled to your servitude, you kill the monster and fling him to the public.

— Winston Churchill

I’ll Show Mine If You’ll Show Yours

If I didn’t have to focus on making a living, this is what I’d do with my life. Georgia doesn’t have a Child Help facility and I’d LOVE to be the person who creates one here.

What is your altruistic dream? Would you feed the poor? Save the planet? Reform education? Cure cancer? Stop domestic abuse? End genocide in Africa? If there was one thing you could do and have a positive impact, and you didn’t have to worry about your current limitations related to family or career or…whatever keeps us stagnating, what would you want to accomplish? Just imagine the sky’s the limit…

My dream? That altruism is unnecessary.

  • i’m afraid to say it because i’m worried the next question to myself will be:
    “what is stopping me?”
((and i don’t think i’m ready to answer that yet))
but i love the planting of the seed.

  • I am torn between what I would want to do the most since there many things that I have a passion for. In my rural area here, we have no outreach for pregnant teens or young parents that don’t have family or anyone to help/guide them. It has been a passion of mine to open homes for the teen’s that don’t have this. A home that would teach them the tools to parent, make a living and equip them for life in general. It would be like a second chance home. A home where they and their little ones could live and be nurtured. When I was a pregnant teen I was kicked out of my home and made really bad choices because of that. It has been in my heart to do something for kids like me for many years now.

My other passion would be to go work at an orphanage or to build a really big house and adopt a bunch of what are considered “unadoptable children”.

Your “child help” facility sounds wonderful and very much needed!

  • I don’t know how altruistic it is, because it would definitely benefit me…and I don’t know what exactly I would do, but…

I would create some sort of network for middle-aged singles (man, it’s stupid how much I still cringe at “middle-aged” even though I’m 44). There are organizations for young singles, elderly singles, families, single parents, etc., but I feel alone in a world full of people. We are told that there is a huge number of single people around but I don’t see them…or maybe I just don’t recognize them.

I’m not talking about dating, that’s a whole different kettle of fish. I’m talking about making connections with other “similar” people, with the objective being to make friends, to have a friendly person (or persons) with whom to do whatever.

  • “I want to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony…”

No, I think I would like to be able to educate people regarding health care … diet, alternatives medicines, natural cures, etc… our healthcare, insurance, pharmecutical issues are out of control!!!! (in my opinion)
