Friday Funday
Everyone needs a little fun on Friday. While reading this morning’s news, I saw an article about how to choose a pet according to your zodiac sign. A little light reading in the face of headlines touting doom and gloom seemed like a novel idea.
Since I’m really an anal retentive control freak who likes to ignore the fact that most of life is gray rather than black and white (yes, Mom, I admit it), I was thrilled to learn that I chose well when picking out family pets:
Capricorn
Ambitious and practical, Capricorns thrive with a pet that is a disciplined over-achiever. The German Shepherd’s strength, intelligence, and obedience will allow it easily to meet Capricorn’s goals. With a willingness to learn and an eagerness to have a purpose, the German Shepherd will flourish in the training of Capricorn’s firm hand. Self-assuredness and loyalty are traits that will solidify its stature in a Capricorn’s life.

My husband though, poor guy, he was apparently born in the wrong month and his stars are very confused. If I could introduce you, you’d quickly see that the very idea of him with a cute little rodent is about as far fetched as Santa riding a turtle.
Cancer
Cancers feel their way through life and, for emotional gratification, prefer a small pet they can hold, caress, and care for. Hamsters are cute, clean, and a joy to take care of. Like a Cancer, a hamster is happiest in a comfy, spacious home. Hamsters eat a variety of foods, and Cancers will have no trouble feeding them from their well-stocked kitchen. A litter of baby hamsters will satisfy a Cancer’s maternal and nurturing instincts.

Bernese Mountain Dog for me. And I always wanted one. So that is pretty neat.
WickedStepMoms last blog post..Spin Cycle: Time
I’m a Capricorn. Why am I stuck with a hyperactive, neurotic beagle/dachshund mix?
I started to write about our hamster – I take serious issue with the above claims of a hamster’s cleanness, to say nothing of the dubious “joys” of caring for one – but it turned into a tome. But thanks – next week’s Spin Cycle is open, and I think you’ve just given me my subject.

WickedStepMom: Those dogs are gorgeous.
Jan: You have a hamster?? I’m dreading the day Aaron asks for some sort of pet that resembles a mouse, or a rat, or a reptile…and I’m hoping he’ll not catch me in one of my softer moments. I’ve heard hamsters can be a huge mess, like birds.
Oh yea, and Jan, I’ll share one of my GSDs with you if you’d like. The shedding alone will have you running back to your adorable, neurotic short-haired dog faster than a Ferrari can hit 60 MPH

We HAD a hamster. It’s a long story; you get it next Wednesday. Let it just suffice to say that the fact that I put our 30 gallon aquarium in front of a south-facing, sliding glass door in our family room because I didn’t realize that putting an aquarium in a place that has sunshine 8 hours a day would give us serious algae issues, ensuring the scrubbing of the darn tank at least once every two weeks, is a walk in the park compared to what we went through with the silly hamster.

An iguana?? Nope, nuh-uh, no way for this Aquarius. Give me a cute little cuddler of a dog any day, not a cold-blooded, furless creature.

Violet: That’s hilarious. I can’t quite imagine cuddling up with an iguana, or having it sleep on my bed. Who comes up with this stuff!
your dogs are very handsome, Tricia!
I am going to self-select a pet, and give myself a PIG! In addition to the hamster in my dreams plus 2 cats and 2 dogs….

I’m supposed to have a Pomeranian. I don’t think so. I’m a cat person.

Gary: I told Max and Ellie you think they’re handsome and they both blushed. On the self selecting thing…that’s called cheating.
Smalltown Mom: Interesting. I think you’d go lovely with a Great Dane.
Sure fit for me . . . I’m an Aries and it said I should have an energetic dog . . . my favorite pet was a Hungarian Vizsla who NEVER stopped!
Funny, Small Town Mom, they say a Pomeranian for me also and I have cats and love them, Why would I want a needy dog that looks like a cat!!!!
Amys last blog post..Thankful Thursday Thirteen – Life
Elaine: I’ve heard that Vizslas are amazing, but I’ve never met one up close and personal, at least not that I’m aware of. I have to go look for pictures.
Amy: You’re right. Pomeranians are actually about the size of your cats, and cats don’t bark. No, this is not an invitation for you to send me one of those kittens you recently found.
L.M.A.O. seriously. I’m a scorpio. It said I should get a spider. Are they @#($*@#$@# kidding?!
ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was about to say how absolutely beautiful those Shepards are, and then I looked up and saw Lisa’s comment about how we scorpios are in need of spiders as pets???!!!! ACCK!! I have nightmares about spiders!

Ewwwwww NO!
Scorpio
Intense and inquisitive, Scorpios are fascinated by the darker side of life and often prefer quiet companionship from a pet. Spiders are a pet sure to thrill. Since a spider is a relatively low-maintenance pet, a Scorpio owner can spend hours enthralled watching the interesting existence of a spider. Spiders require little to no socialization, which suits typically introverted Scorpio just fine. A sensual spider housed in a stimulating terrarium will provide a striking scene in a Scorpio’s life.

Three spider people in a row, the Scorpios are out in abundance. I agree with you, blahhh, I can’t imagine a spider as a pet. Gives me creeps just thinking about it, and OMG, if it got out of its cage.
I’m a Scorpio…

I was already dreading the day the children asked for a rabbit/guinea pig/hamster – now, dammit, I’m going to have to align it to their astrological signs and get them one each!
More than Just a Mothers last blog post..Is there sex after babies?
So I am suppose to have a bermease mountain dog and I want one so bad but the have a lot of medical issues and don’t have a long life span so I have held off. But in my search for a new dog that is the way I have been headed for a long time. My husband and I decided on a yellow lab instead. He is an Aries and likes the energetic side to the labs and I like the family qualities of the bread. So I quess it is a perfect comp. We get our new puppy May 16th. We need a name if anyone has ideas? It is a female.
Kristy: Well, of course you should name the new puppy Shout
)
Oh dear! My ideal pet is a Siamese cat and HBL’s is an African Grey Parrot. I’m thinking those two pets would not get a long very well. What does that say about us?? LOL
