A Mommy Post
I’m interrupting my schedule of perversely picking on my husband, or the contemplation of social ills and family quagmires to bring you a Mommy Post. I’m over-the-moon, jumping-up-and-down excited. Wanna know why? Well of course you do, don’t tease me like that.
Last night our son Aaron read an eight-page book to us. Oh yes he did. My little guy has proudly started reading and I know I’m a dork for thinking this is the most exciting thing since Earth was created or humans discovered sex, but I believe this is the beginning of something great.
I’m thrilled at the idea of all the different places he’ll discover through reading; all the different characters, cultures, perspectives and journeys he’ll glimpse in pages and pages of words lovingly strung together by a host of authors. Whoever said power and money make the world go round is wrong. It’s words, baby. All the power is in the words.
yeah, what a proud moment. He is such a smart little boy and this is such a big deal. We are all very proud of him and you and kim for doing such a great job with him. I can’t wait to be the recipient of his new found love.
We knew that it was just a matter of time. He is such a smart little boy and you and Kim have given him every oppurtunity to shine. Great job Tricia and Kim. You should be very proud of him.
I can’t wait for him to read me a story from all thoese books that I have sent him.
XOXOX
It IS a big deal, and it IS the beginning of something great! I love to read, and you are absolutely right that he will go many places and get to experience many things through books.
One day, Tricia, you’ll look at a 13-year-old boy who is all legs and dirty sneakers, curled up on the sofa with the dog, completely absorbed in The Lord of the Flies, and you’ll say to yourself, “Yeah!!”
Way to go Aaron – reading an eight page book is quite an accomplishment for a 4-year-old boy!

YEAH! Books are such a magical tool!
Some days I have to force my girls to leave the books int heir room so I can actually see their beautiful faces at the dinner table! Now Jacob, not so much, he would rather you read it to him, and we do!
Great job to all of you!

SO great when they start reading, it’s almost like a sigh of relief!
Oh that’s so awesome! I can’t wait for Noah to read to me. Well, they have these little books that they read in class, and at night Noah reads that to me, but it has a picture over each word. I don’t think that’s really reading. But he can read about 20 separate words now.
Congratulations to you and Aaron! How old is he again?

It IS a big deal and congratulations, Aaron!
I’ve always been anal about my kids reading, I hate to see kids spend all day in front of the computer. I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who gets excited when their kids finish a book. Gage and Carter are 12 and 9 and I still get a little thrill when they picks up a book because I know it means I’ve passed on my love of reading. I read a lot to Ryerson and I hope he’s the same way
Wow Aaron!!!!! You go, boy!!!!
It’s amazing how fast they grow up!! Next up, he’ll be “reading” porn.
ps when you get to that stage, please tell me how you deal with it cuz I don’t know if I can. Hmmm…
Brandygirls last blog post..Happy Birthday to Ya!!!! erm..ps would you like a slice of my homemade banana bread?
You SHOULD be estatic, that is QUITE the milestone!! Right now our stages only involve language and social development.
Excellent! So when can I expect to see his IP address pop up on my stat counter for NGIP?
Seriously, though…how exciting for you!
