Sunshine for Lunch
We rarely eat at fast food restaurants so it’s not surprising that my four-year-old doesn’t know about the children’s menu at McDonald’s. But a few months ago we met my son’s playmate for lunch under the big arches.
I ordered my little guy a Happy Meal and when he heard me place the order, he hugged my leg with glee and said, “Thanks Mommy. I wouldn’t have liked a sad meal.” Then he paused and processed before coming back to ask, “Mommy what makes it a happy meal; is there sunshine in it?”

This is cute — Rick had his first Happy Meal from McDonalds a few months ago and now whenever we have cheeseburgers he calls them Happy Meals!

That is too cute! Though, I am wondering if a sad meal is every other meal at McDonalds, you know, the kind that adds 30lbs and 3 inches to your waist line…

LOL! McDonald’s has the branding thing down pat. Every time my kids see a capital M they ask for french fries.

“Pinky, are you thinking what I’m thinking?”
“I think so, Brain – but if they called them ‘Sad Meals’ the kids wouldn’t want to eat them!”
God, I am such a GEEK.
Ten points and my super-secret apple pie recipe to the person who can tell me what that reference is from.
